Pi Sigma Alpha is a national political science honor society founded in 1920 at the University of Texas at Austin. Its purpose is to recognize and promote high academic achievement in the field of political science. As of 2012, there are over seven hundred active Pi Sigma Alpha chapters throughout the United States. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., this society is governed by the Association of College Honors Societies.

Local chapters are guided by their own constitutions and locally elected officers. At Elizabethtown College, students are offered membership as juniors when they have achieved a GPA of 3.3 or higher within the major.
