Elizabethtown College student, Samantha Poremba, cofacilitated an American Sociological Association Workshop

Elizabethtown College student Samantha Poremba, of Wyckoff, New Jersey, was a session copresenter at an American Sociological Association (ASA) annual meeting workshop in San Francisco, California.
Her travel was funded by grants from Elizabethtown College. Poremba was able to apply for a Summer Enrichment Grant offered through the Office of Prestigious Scholarships and the Dean's Grant for Student Research.
At the conference, Poremba cofacilitated a workshop as part of ASA's Research Support Forum, "Community-Based Research: A Promising New Approach to Teaching Undergraduate Research Methods and Social Statistics to the Net Generation". She also completed the ASA Student Forum's Professional Development Certificate and attended a series of receptions. She often was the only undergraduate in attendance. Poremba was able to network with a wide array of scholars in the field of sociology while representing Elizabethtown College.
Poremba is a junior sociology and anthropology major with a women & gender studies minor. She is an Emergent Scholar, president of Allies and participated in the Summer Creative Arts and Research Projects (SCARP).
